Murphy. McEwen, TN. Walk 1. 2009

11 years ago today I lost Murphy to nasal cancer, a terminal diagnosis he was given just weeks after completing the 2,300 mile Austin to Boston walk for cancer research. In a few hours I’ll be going to lay white roses at the park where he was given rest.

After that, I’ll be in my studio translating that infamous photo of me carrying Murphy his final steps into my first NFT. In some way my entire life has been an artistic endeavour but I haven’t tried to put paint to canvas in decades. For the past six months I’ve been building a community of great artists on Twitter for this purpose so that’s where most of my NFT posts will be if you’d like to follow that part of my journey. @2Dogs2000Miles on Twitter.

As the daughter of one of the first families I really came to know and love on Walk 1 said famously, ‘I miss my Murphy’.
